The idea of Uckfield Baking Club is for members to get together to chat and share their baking. It's an informal club with no competition, just a bit of fun and a great way to get to know new people in the local area, swap baking ideas and inspire you to bake more. There are no limits on what you can bake - you can bring along cakes of all shapes and sizes, pies, tarts, savoury or sweet. Basically anything baked. We're not strict and bakers of all abilities are welcome.
Meetings:
I, Bex, have set up this club in the hope of sharing my love of baking with like-minded people. I used to help run Glasgow Baking Club when I lived in Glasgow and always planned to start up my own club when I moved to East Sussex in 2014 but I was 6 months pregnant with my twins at the time and life has been pretty hectic since! I hope to arrange meetings as a bit of time for me when the kids are in bed. If there is a demand for it, I'm also happy to plan meetings where kids can join in too. However, you're welcome along whether you have kids or not, whatever your age, it's all just for the fun of baking and socialising.
Each meeting will be announced in a blog post with details of the date and theme and will also be shared on Twitter and Facebook. See below how to take part and then just bring along your bake and have fun! Previous examples of themes Bex took part in with Glasgow Baking Club include: Pink, Picnic and Birthday. There was even a joint meeting with the Edinburgh Cake Ladies with a Showstopper theme.
Each meeting will have a write up on the blog and there will be photos of each bake with links to recipes used. If you want to share recipes, you can send your recipe in to be featured on the Uckfield Baking Club blog and/or bring along copies to swap at the meeting if you wish.
How to join in:
Just sign up for the blog update emails and contact Bex when a post is published announcing the next meeting. Send an email indicating your choice of what you want to bake to reserve your place. If we receive any duplicate bakes, you will be asked to choose another option. Places (and choice of bake) will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Venue address details will be sent out to participants one week before the meeting. On the day/night, just bring along your baking and something to display it on (and a knife if required). I also recommend you bring a big tin or Tupperware box to take away any leftovers! Partners tend to like this detail ;)
